PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 (AS AMENDED)

NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPEMENT

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 177AE(4)(a) of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) Tipperary County Council proposes to seek approval of An Coimisiún Pleanála to carry out the following development at Garrykennedy Inner Harbour, Garrykennedy, Co. Tipperary:

The proposed development consists of clearance of the Inner Harbour including removal of abandoned boats while addressing safety concerns in relation to the existing boardwalk by removal of existing and replacement with new floating pontoons for 47 No. small boat berths that include facilities to enable wheelchair users to access the water, extension to existing welfare building to provide “changing places” facility, alterations to existing parking to facilitate 4 No. recreational vehicle parking spaces with power and water points and updated accessible parking and provision of bike parking / charging facilities.

 

The footprint of the proposed project is within the Lough Derg (Shannon) SPA (Site Code 004058).

A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared in respect of the proposed development.  An Coimisiún Pleanála may give approval for the development with or without conditions, or may refuse the application for development. 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development together with the Natura Impact Statement will be available for inspection, free of charge, at Nenagh Municipal District Offices, Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices, Limerick Road, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, E45 A099 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) for a period from Wednesday 16th July 2025 to Friday 29th August 2025.  A copy may be purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy. Details of the proposed development are also available online at https://www.tipperarycoco.ie

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, if carried out, relating to -

  1. The implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,
  2. The likely effects on the environment of the proposed development and,
  3. The likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European Site,

may be made in writing within the period specified above to The Secretary, An Coimisiún Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 not later than the 29th August 2025.
